K-Groups

Calvary United Methodist Church currently has several Koinonia groups which are known as K-Groups. Koinonia is a Greek word that occurs 20 times in the Bible. Koinonia’s primary meaning is “fellowship, sharing in common, communion.” Christian fellowship is a key aspect of the Christian life. Believers in Christ are to come together in love, faith, and encouragement. That is the essence of Koinonia.

Our K-Groups are mixed gender and meet based on the frequency that is most comfortable for the members of each group. Groups typically form when individuals with similar interests feel a sense of connection with one another and there is a desire to interact with each other on a more significant level. It is suggested that K-Groups make an attempt to meet at least once a month and that the meeting dates are given the highest priority next to family needs. Meeting length and format are once again determined by the members. While a strong emphasis is suggested on growing as Christians, there is typically a time where the group members will share, in a confidential environment, situations where prayer and/or support would be welcomed. Most groups will also include some meeting nights where a more social atmosphere will be the focus.
