Mifflin Food Pantry

The Mifflin Community Food Ministry is a non-profit corporation formed in 2002 by four area churches- Zion E.C., St. John’s Lutheran, Calvary United Methodist, Mohnton, and New Life of Shillington (formerly St. Luke’s E.C.). The Food Ministry exists as a community based outreach to families in need in the Governor Mifflin area and appreciates monetary and nonperishable food donations from any individual, church, school, or community organization.

Location

The food pantry is located in the lower level of Zion E.C. Church, North Church and Summit Streets, Mohnton, and is open the third Saturday of each month from 9 – 11AM.

Volunteers have emerged from the area churches, the Gov. Mifflin Key Club, the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Rainbow Girls, Shillington Lions Club, to name a few. Donations have come in from those same volunteers, as well as from many local businesses. Volunteers are needed every third Saturday of the month to help clients in the selection of food choices offered. Volunteers are needed the Friday of that week to prepare bags and tables of food items for the clients and to pick up and deliver to Zion large quantities of food/beverages from various donator locations.
