From June 16 to June 22, 19 people participated in a life-changing week of Beach Camp on Long Beach Island, at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference in New Jersey. From our church, there were 11 middle school students, 3 pre-teens, and 5 adult leaders enthusiastically involved throughout the week. It was a high energy time that included a mass 250 student shaving cream battle (for which the mayor of Harvey Cedars provided a fire truck to hose down the students and staff), sports, insightful speakers and dynamic videos, well thought out lessons on living a life which pleases God, powerful worship, commitments and re-commitments to Jesus, and a great time of developing momentum in the middle school student ministry. Our group did an incredible job of interacting with biblical concepts of discipleship as well as wrestling with God’s missional work in their everyday lives. The girls were even fantastic in keeping their room clean, and the guys … um, well … let’s just say that they had a truly “incredible”room in the olfactory sense. Overall, the week was life-changing for the mindsets of many students. We are grateful to have such a supportive church body here at Calvary to make such an event possible for our young people!
