Re-Start of the Stephen Ministry

The Stephen Ministry program is in its 38th year nationally.  Over a million Stephen Ministers have been trained worldwide, involving more than 150 denominations in every state and 25 different countries.  This is a distinctively Christian program of confidential one-to-one caregiving by trained individuals for hurting people.   Those who receive care may be dealing with any of varied issues, including illness, death of a loved one, relationship or financial problems,  relocation,  just to list a few.  The success of this program clearly indicates its value to a congregation and to the community.
Calvary has long been involved with the Stephen program, but it has become somewhat inactive over time.  As part of our Strategic Plan, it has been decided by our church leadership that this valuable program should be reactivated.  Awareness and ownership of this ministry by our congregation is vital, as is prayer support of this mission.
Previously trained Stephen Ministers may take advantage of the new training program, all or in part, or review on their own as they wish, prior to becoming active again.
The next training class for new Stephen Ministers is scheduled to begin on April 1 and continue each Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 9:00 PM.  The training totals 50 hours, and is both comprehensive and diverse.  If you have an interest in participation, please talk to Pastor  Bern, Janet Dearstyne, or Phyllis Wintz, the program coordinator.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, if someone you know is hurting or in need of care through a difficult time, please speak to Pastor Bern (610-777-8441) or Dr. Phyllis Wintz in assured confidence.
